YES!Atlanta is "Youth Experiencing Success." We strive to enhance the lives of vulnerable teenagers in metropolitan Atlanta through a variety of structured and effective programs carefully designed to address issues facing our youth

  • Every 29 seconds another student gives up on school, resulting in more than one million American high school students who drop out every year
  • . The Georgia high school graduation rate improved from 65 percent in 2004 to 72 percent in 2007. However, Georgia still lags behind the national graduation rate of 84%.
  • Dropouts are more likely than high school graduates to be unemployed, in poor health, living in poverty, on public assistance, and single parents with children who themselves are likely to drop out of high school
  • Dropouts are more than eight times as likely to be in jail or prison as high school graduates

Did you know that more than 5,000 cases of juvenile delinquency exist in the Fulton County court system alone? Poor school performance correlates directly with juvenile delinquency.

Consider these latest statistics:
14 year-olds committed nearly 1,700 crimes against property, more than 1,400 against persons, had more than 400 weapons violations and nearly 450 instances of drugs use.

15 year-olds committed nearly 2,300 crimes against property, more than 1,500 against persons, had more than 300 weapons charges, 917 for drugs and more than 150 terror threats.

16 year-olds committed nearly 2,700 crimes against property, nearly 1,700 against persons, had nearly 1,600 drug charges and more than 300 weapons cases.

The lives of these young people are exactly what YES!Atlanta seeks to change, by showing a them better way to live and providing a foundation for personal success.

What makes YES!Atlanta different?

For over 18 years, YES!Atlanta has helped thousands of local teenagers turn their lives around.   The former Chief Justice of the Fulton County Juvenile Court stated that, in her experience, more than 70 percent of program participants perform better in school and leave the juvenile justice system forever.

Think of the impact of this upon the youth and the community in which they live.
